Global Village Toronto is perfect for students who are serious about learning but want to have fun in the process. Our 100% TESL Certified teaching staff have been teaching at Global Village alone for over seven years and know how to design dynamic, interesting classes which allow students to progress quickly. Our superb location in the trendy Yorkville area and close to three subway stations is ideal for students who enjoy shopping, going to pubs, restaurants and cafes with friends and exploring Toronto?fs cultural sights. GV Toronto students benefit from our easy access to downtown and their homestay homes. GV?fs professionally organized activities and ?gConnect with Canadians?h volunteer program give students the opportunity to practice their English outside of the classroom while making valuable friendships and experiences that will last a lifetime. Come experience it for yourself!

In our ten years at Global Village we have seen a variety of learning styles and have always sought to accommodate them. We enjoy using different methods that suit our classes. Most importantly we create an environment that is both academically challenging and supportive. Our students like to laugh and we like to laugh with them. We as teachers are honoured to share this experience with our students.

Global Village Toronto is a fantastic school with wonderful people. Our students come from all over the world and bring with them diverse ideas and experiences. It is amazing to see how much our students grow when they interact in a totally English environment. We see their progress on a daily basis: in their English communication and increased confidence!

I would like to say thank you to all staff at Global Village. Especially, thank you to Rebecca who helped me a lot when I applied to the programs at GV through emails between Japan and Canada, Izabella who placed me in the best Work Experience Program placement, Christine who gave me such a wonderful home stay place, Dora who was the greatest teacher who I have ever met, and all the other wonderful staff.

I am just surprised that I have been a student at Global Village for 10 months. I have spent such a long time there, however I felt it was too short! When I started the class, it was the winter and it was cold for me to be outside of the building, but it was like a tropical island in school. I mean both warm rooms and warm staff. And I met nice friends in the class! I still keep in touch with them.

The last 5 months, I was working for Toronto International Film Festival 2004 as part of the Work Experience Program. At first, I thought there was no hope to work there because it is such a big and famous festival. However, my experience working at a movie theatre in my country helped me, and fortunately I could get placed there. It was such a great place to work! Everyone was so kind that I felt that I got truly involved there. I was an intern in the Administration and Technical department and I helped the film scheduling and I had the opportunity to learn about 16 mm projector and digital video decks, which I hadn’t operated before. Therefore, I could learn not only Business English but also other things. When I finished the internship, everyone asked me to come back to for next year’s festival. I hope I can do it and I would like to come back to Toronto!

Thank you, everyone!
Thank you for everything!

I had a great experience at Global Village Toronto in Canada. I came to Toronto at the end of September. It was still hot and humid like summer. I was very excited about everything because I made my plans for Toronto before I came to Canada. My plan was to do ESL for 8 weeks, Business English Program for 8 weeks and then Work Experience Program for 8 weeks. ESL classes were very good for me. I learned a lot of vocabulary, conversation and grammar and I had a lot of homework everyday. Furthermore, I met many people. I went out with friends and my classmates everyday. Through my friends, I learned about different cultures and customs. So it was really great to study English in a foreign country. I had final tests to go up to the next level at the end of each session; it was challenging and I could see how much I had learned that session. BEP was different from ESL because I learned only business. I didn't study grammar, but I had to read a lot of business articles and discuss them with my classmates. I also learned how to give a presentation. Before I took the course, I hesitated to speak out in front of people, however, after that I could do a presentation without hesitating. I really improved my reading and speaking skills. Finally I took Work Experience Program. I was very nervous because I didn't have any confidence in myself. I got a job working in a private kindergarten as a teacher's assistant. In the beginning, I was nervous and tired everyday because I had to learn a lot of things about the job. I worked in a class with 25 children who were between two and six years old. It was hard to be close to the students in the first week, but little by little, I became closer to them. By the time I left the job, I was very sad and the students gave me a book with their names and pictures. Work Experience Program is very different from ESL and BEP. It gave me the opportunity to experience a Canadian business environment which you couldn't experience by yourself as a student. Also, by the time you finish Work Experience Program, you will have a lot of confidence in yourself.
